High Risk Contact

I have been contacted that my Child's Cohort has been considered a High-Risk Contact.
What does this mean?

The Health Unit has identified children and possible staff members of your cohort to be HIGH-RISK CONTACTS of COVID-19.

The following information will provide next steps for your household to take for the next 10 days. All high-risk contacts will be contacted by public health within 48 hours of receiving a call from the TBCDSB team.

• Students in the same cohort are considered high-risk contacts. Your child, is among those and they may have been exposed to the virus.
• As a safety precaution to ensure that the virus does not spread to others in the school, if your child is not fully vaccinated or if they have symptoms, you are being asked to immediately keep them at home for the time being.
• Please also avoid having visitors in your home.
  
• It is important for your child to be tested for COVID-19. If your child currently has symptoms, they should be tested right away.
  
  
• Please contact your nearest assessment centre to arrange testing. An appointment is required. When you speak to the attendant, be sure to tell them what school your child is from.
  
  
• If your child does not have symptoms, public health will advise on the testing recommendation. You will also be sent a letter with information on how to book the day 7 test.

Getting tested for COVID-19

• In Thunder Bay, testing for cohorts takes place at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Medical Building beside the main hospital.
  
  
• If you have symptoms of COVID-19, please call (807) 935-8100 for immediate testing.
  
  
• Information for Day 7 testing and the online booking link will be sent to you in the next 1-2 days.

• When booking a test by phone, please advise the assessment centre which school the high-risk contact attends.
